About the course:

Watercolour is a very rich technique and offers a wide range of techniques that, in combination, help me to portray what is important to me - freedom, dynamics, light and atmosphere.

In the course we will demonstrate my approach to painting landscapes or cityscapes. We will get acquainted with the materials - paints, brushes and other equipment. We will demonstrate composition planning, working with color intensity, limited palette, dry and wet painting, wash, negative painting, granulation, and other techniques.

This full weekend watercolour course is suitable for intermediate to advanced beginners who want to learn new skills.

Lecturer: Tomáš Fišera

A few words about the lecturer:

Tomas comes from an artistic family, he had the opportunity to explore various artistic techniques from an early age, and so painting became his great passion as a child. He studied promotional graphics at SUPŠ in Prague. He has been painting almost all his life and for the last 5 years exclusively in watercolour. The author paints dynamically and expressively with an emphasis on light. In his works he tries to record the feeling message, the mood of the place, but also his own. With its fragility and delicacy, watercolor is the best technique for these "dreamlike scenes" that stimulate the viewer's imagination.

His paintings of landscapes and city scenes are mostly created in the open air. Inspiration often comes from a combination of memories, moods, sketches and photographs from places he has visited. The resulting work can also be perceived as imaginary landscapes, giving people the opportunity to project their own perspective on these places.

Author's works have participated in many exhibitions abroad in recent years (Spain, Florida, Singapore, India, Italy, Slovenia, Thailand, Indonesia, Poland, etc.), where he has also received many awards. His work is represented in the collections of private art collectors in various parts of the world.

He has led, participated in and co-organized many studio and plein air workshops with international artists (e.g. Alvaro Castagnet, Eudes Correia, Nicolas Lopez, Cesc Farre, Jorge Corpuna, Vicente Garcia, Alex Hillkurtz and others). He also co-organizes the annual international meeting of watercolorists - Prague Pleinair - www.praguepleinair.com.

He is an administrator for Fabriano CZ, International Watercolor Society CZ and an ambassador of Artikon.

You can see Tomas' work on his instagram. Video from one of his exhibitions here.

Recommendation:

We established cooperation with Tomas in 2023 on the recommendation of a leading Polish manufacturer of art supplies Renesans. Tomas has personally met many foreign artists and learns from them in joint workshops. His work is distinctive and shows a lot of work and training. If you are interested in his style and the techniques he works with, the course is the perfect opportunity to get a "look" under Tomáš's hands and learn some of his techniques and new tricks.

From participants of previous courses:

"The best watercolour course I have taken. A professional as a lecturer is just a dream for a layman...Thank you for making it come true" (Markéta)

"I enjoyed the excellently prepared watercolour course with Tomáš Fišera until the last minute. The opportunity to watch Tomáš painting, where he explains how and why he creates what he does, and then to try everything out - this is exactly the method that suits me. In addition, Tomáš has an amazing gift - he knows how to pass on his knowledge, to lead and at the same time to enthuse, he oozes energy. It was two amazing days for me and I am definitely going to attend more of Tomas' courses." (Veronica)

"Tomáš is a patient lecturer, he has watercolour in his little finger, he paints nicely and he gives his full attention to everything. And yet he does it all with enthusiasm and is fun to be with. You can't even put more expectations together." (Iva)
