B. Křemenová: Oil painting 19.10.24 Pilsen

About the course:

It is not for nothing that oil painting is called the royal painting technique - it allows to express even the most subtle colour tone, to capture the shimmer of light and the depth of space or shadow.

There are many ways to work with oil paint. In this course, we will demonstrate how to transfer a motif or subject onto canvas. We will learn how to create an imprimatura - an underpainting, and then get into the oil painting itself. Our intention will be to paint the whole painting in one day, so we will work with techniques that do not require long drying of the layers, alla prima and wet to wet.

There will be both printed masters representing the various painting processes mentioned above and real still life paintings.

The course is designed for beginners who have no previous experience with oil painting, as well as for advanced students who wish to expand their expressive register.

A few words about the lecturer:

Blanka Křemenová is a painter originally from Příbram, working and living in Pilsen and Prague. In addition to her own work, she conducts private art courses in her studio in Pilsen, courses and workshops for the public in the Pilsen studio Výtvarno and in the Prague studio Vytvarny atelier of painting and drawing.

Using mostly classical painting techniques, he creates figurative compositions and portraits, which he places in allegorical contexts in combination with abstract elements. Thematically, he focuses on social, cultural, historical and philosophical issues. The focus of her attention is on the human being as a tool for expressing the inner world of the individual, but also interpersonal relationships and transcendent universal phenomena. Her work is represented in private collections both at home and abroad.

We were very impressed by her paintings and the deep themes that emerge from them. The course will take place in ARTeliér on Borská Street in Pilsen - above the Artikon shop (Borská 629/3)
Course duration: 9:00 - 18:00 (including lunch break)
Course materials can be purchased (check the package box above the description) or bring your own. You will work on easels that will be set up in the studio.
The number of participants on the course is limited to 10, with a minimum of 5 participants.
The course is also suitable for complete beginners.

Cancellation policy: If you cancel your participation more than one week before the start of the course, you will be refunded in full or offered a place on another course. If you cancel less than one week before the course starts, you will be charged 100% of the cancellation fee. The course organiser reserves the right to cancel a course if there are insufficient numbers of participants. In this case you will be offered a place on another course or a full refund.

List of recommended aids:

- oil paints (shades of titanium white, bone black, permanent red light, kraplak dark, cadmium yellow medium, ultramarine dark, Paris blue, payn's grey dark, umber tan, ochre light) - smaller tubes of 20ml (brands e.g. Umton, Renesans, Rosa) will suffice
- synthetic brushes (flat 1,5cm, 0,5cm, round 1,5cm, 0,5cm, 1-2mm)
- linseed oil (small pack)
- stretched cotton canvas 50x50 or other format that suits you
- soft palette knive for mixing colors (basic drop shape)
- palette (larger wooden)
