Canadian balm Kremer 250ml 62110Canadian balsam, also called Canadian turpentine, is extracted from various species of Canadian fir trees. Balms are a mixture of essential oils with resins. Canadian balsam is a thick, viscous liquid, slightly yellowish, very sticky. It has a pleasant balsamic fresh aroma; bitter and aromatic.
Dissolves in organic solvents, only partially in anhydrous alcohol. Chloroform or xylene is used for dilution, It is used in optics to seal lenses and as a sealant for optical instruments. Containing a high percentage of citrus oils, it is very suitable for perfuming soaps. After curing, it forms a hard varnish.
