Malířské plátno je již po dlouhou dobu díky svým vlastnostem nejpoužívanější povrch pro malbu. Typicky se používá hlavně pro olejové, akrylové nebo temperové barvy. Vyrábí se z bavlny, lnu, juty či umělých vláken, každý materiál má své specifické vlastnosti a výhody. Před malbou se plátno zpravidla překryje podkladovou barvou - šepsem. Napíná se na dřevěný rám či desku, můžete si je zakoupit již připravené nebo napnout i našepsovat sami.
