Fish glue is one of the most versatile adhesives with a wide range of applications. It has the unique ability to form an adhesive viscous film when applied to a warm aqueous solution, which gelatinises (gelatinises) on cooling and immediately forms a fairly strong initial bond. It is used for various purposes in the textile, chemical, wood, paper and printing industries.
Preparation: soak the dry glue in cold water and leave to swell for 1-2 hours. Then dissolve in a water bath at 60-80 °C, stirring constantly. Apply the glue at a temperature of 50-60 °C, cooler temperatures make it dewy and difficult to apply.
