Historie značky Golden je vlastně i historie akrylových barev jako takových. Sam Golden, zakladatel značky, vyvinul ve 40. letech 20. století vůbec první akrylovou barvu jak ji známe. Pod svým jménem začal barvy vyrábět až výrazně později, v roce 1980, na žádost svých přátel. Dnes je Golden nejpopulárnější akrylovou barvou v USA a k běžným barvám Heavy body vyrábí také pomaluschnoucí barvy Open, tekuté barvy Fluid a další produky v podobě médií, akvarelových barev QoR a od roku 2010 také olejových barev Williamsburg. Všechny výrobky spojuje hlavně důraz na kvalitu a spolehlivost materiálů, což ocení nejen profesionální umělci.
